All States implement Smarter Balance Assessments in line w/Common Core Standards by 2014 '15 School Year
Hey! I think its funny that you have a wikispec up here but not your 1AC. Hilarious!
WIKISPEC - please take this and run it
(see discussion tab for thoughts on and answers to this)
Interpretation
You must put the full text of your 1AC on nfacaselist.wikispaces.com at least 24 hours prior to the start of the tournament you will be reading that case at.
Violation
1. You did not have the full text of the case on the Wiki. 2. You did not have anything posted on the Wiki. 3. You do not even have a Wiki page. 4. You did not have this posted at least 24 hours prior to the start of the tournament.
Standards
1. Case Specific Debate a. Case specific debate is key to education because it allows for a greater depth and variety of debate to occur, rather than reliance on generics, especially topicality. b. Case specific debate is key for fairness, because it is the only way ensure opposition ground that will link to the plan text. c. Case specific debate for LD is impossible in a world where cases are not disclosed prior to the start of a tournament, because there is no way to cut evidence against cases that you do not know exist. d. By failing to disclose at least 24 hours prior to the start of the tournament, you have already decreased the fairness and education of this round. The abuse has already happened, and is irreversible. 2. Community Norms a. Development of strong community norms is key to accessibility, because it allows small and new programs to successfully adapt to the activity b. A norm of disclosure would increase the ability of these programs to adapt because it would make the research burden reasonable rather than impossible. c. Accessibility is key to all fairness and education b/c it is the precoursor to engaging in debate.
Voters
1. Procedurals come first - they are a gateway issue of access to the debate round itself. All the impacts from this procedural have already happened, and are irreversible because the violations occurred before the round even started. 2. Competitive Equity - Competitive Equity is the reason why debaters do debate. Without it you may as well flip a coin to determine a winner. For this reason you should always err on the side of what makes debate more equitable, not on whether or not a bright line of fairness has been passed. 3. Education - Education is how we justify debate to administrators to get more funding to do more debate. I think we can all agree that debate is a go thing otherwise we would not be here. You should always err on the side of making debate a more educational activity, not just an educational activity.
